ROBERSON LAUNCHES BID FOR FLORIDA HOUSE
Will work to lower Property Taxes and Insurance Rates, Protect Peace River
Port Charlotte, FL – Today, Ken Roberson, a 63 year old Port Charlotte funeral director, announced his bid for the Florida House of Representatives, District 71.
The district covers parts of Charlotte, Sarasota and Lee Counties and is currently held by Rep. Michael Grant who announced in March his intention to seek the seat of Senator Lisa Carlton who will retire from the Senate due to term limits.
Roberson would like to see the state continue to lower insurance rates and property taxes. “Fair property taxes and affordable property insurance are major issues that are on the minds of citizens I have talked to. I’m hopeful the upcoming Special Session of the Legislature to be held in June will provide much needed relief for the property owners of Florida” stated Roberson. He believes government both state and local need to be more efficient with our tax dollars.
Roberson will continue to fight to protect the Peace River. “Protecting our water supply, mainly provided by the Peace River will be a critical issue as Southwest Florida continues to grow.” Said Roberson, “I feel state and local government need to work in partnership with agriculture, conservationists, developers and the phosphate industry to find ways to protect and restore the Peace River watershed.”
Roberson a native Floridian, was born in Bradenton and moved to Charlotte County 31 years ago to open Roberson Funeral Home. He feels protection of Florida’s natural resources and the environment are important issues worth fighting for in Tallahassee.
“As a state representative, I will be an advocate of a common-sense approach to lawmaking and an advocate for the citizens of Southwest Florida.” Concluded Roberson.
