Statement Of Laura Benson
Laura Benson has been a resident of Southwest Florida for 25 years. Laura attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated from Edison Community College in Punta Gorda where she studied business. She is currently a Realtor, along with her husband Brian, at Prudential Palms Realty. She is an active member of the Association of Realtors and is one of 3 Certified Ethics Instructors for the Association and provides ethics training that is required of all newly licensed Realtors.
Laura's three children all attended public schools. Kate lives and works in downtown Sarasota. Corey is a Junior at Riverview High School and Zachary is a Junior at Pine View. All were born here in Florida.
Laura was elected in 2002 to serve a 4 year term on the Sarasota County school board.
In 2005 Laura was appointed by the President of the Florida Senate to serve a 3 year term on the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida. This 15 member Commission is charged with envisioning the future of Florida and reviewing current and future growth policies to ensure this vision. The process requires a high degree of public participation.
