Statement Of Marie Nisco
House District 67 covers parts of Northeast Sarasota County (11 precincts), Manatee County (56 precincts), and a small portion of Hillsborough County (18 precincts).
The Constitution of Florida declares that "All political power is inherent in the people". With the passing of each election, those to be governed choose those who will lead their government.
The legislative branch is the law-making branch, setting the main policies of the government through the laws it enacts.
Marie Nisco, elected to the Sarasota County Charter Review Board Dist.5 in 2000 and re-elected in 2004. Appointed to the Family Violence Advisory Council by the Sarasota County Commissioners on June 10, 2003 until May10, 2005 when the board was disbanded.
A common sense candidate for the people will work very hard to cut property taxes and make property insurance affordable again, keep our communities safe and our families strong, but I cannot accomplish any issues without your participation. I have always encouraged citizens to get involved at all levels of government, and I have always respected the opinions of others. I believe that citizens can and do make a difference in the political process. I am a candidate for all of the people.
Marie Nisco will not tell you that she has all the answers but she is a person with moral principals, commitment and the ability to do what needs to be done! With a degree in mental health and a background in law enforcement, education, social work, gerontology, lobbying, working with the physically and mentally challenged and good common sense, she will work hard for your concerns, following the people's agenda and will expect to be held accountable by you, the voters, my lobbyist's.
I am sensitive to people's needs and have a mutual capacity to solve human problems. I am a flexible dedicated candidate, who can operate under pressure with good judgement and a positive attitude. Through difficult times, I manage to maintain a sense of humor, a warm regard for the other person's point of view and a much needed measure of stability.
ISSUES
Property Tax Reform and Property Insurance Reform: High property taxes and outrageous home insurance rates contribute to the derailment of our enjoyment of life here in beautiful Florida. We need prudent spending of our tax dollars at all levels of government.
