Club Meetings

The Republican Club of South Sarasota County meets on the second Wednesday of of most months. Until further notice the RCSSC convenes in the meeting room of the Venice Chamber of Commerce building at 597 Tamiami Trail on Venice Island. Complimentary snacks and beverages are served during the social period from 11:30 to noon, the meeting starts at 12 noon and concludes by 1:00 PM. Each month we conduct the club's business, have a guest speaker, plan upcoming activities, enjoy each other's company, welcome new members, and have light refreshments.

OBee's of Venice provides the sandwiches at a reduced price so we need to be sure to publicly thank them whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Check your Patriot newsletter and here for updates. Occasionally we will have special meetings at alternate locations locations, check back here and in your Patriot newsletter for notices.

Club Mission

The club was established and continues its activities to foster support for Republican ideals and candidates. Specifically, we help elect responsible Republican candidates, who share core Republican beliefs of limited government, entrepreneurial capitalism, equitable tax policies, common sense environmental policies, and compassionate conservatism. Further, we foster overall public awareness about the issues facing this rapidly growing area and then help elect Republican candidates who are supportive of our distinct jurisdictions and their unique challenges.

The club continues to help people associate with others who share similar Republican values, and to pool our talents and energies thereby encouraging effective representative government.

The current thrust of the RCSSC is to increase effectiveness of RCSSC members and the Republican Party by creating a coalition of local Republicans who can pool their energy and votes when South Sarasota County issues arise. This is the reason why the RCSSC is conducting outreach programs to Englewood and other area Republicans.

Republicans vs. Democrats

What Are the Core Beliefs?

These words are the opinion of the web page editor and do not necessarily accurately reflect the opinion of the RCSSC or its members.

Republicans believe that the strength of our nation lies within each individual. Republicans believe in fostering opportunities for individuals to show their personal energy and ability. Democrats believe the strength of our nation lies in their ability to lead the rest of us who are less intellectually blessed than they.

Republicans believe in equal opportunity for all; that"opportunity" means the chance to earn a benefit versus being entitled to them simply because you exist. Democrats believe in equal benefits for all, regardless of who has to pay for them. The common term in favor during these times is "redistribution of wealth" which as the Democrats see it, means they want to tax anybody who has money and spend it on their programs, after all they are wiser than we.

Republicans believe in free enterprise and that encouraging individual initiative is the core source of economic prosperity and personal pride. Republicans believe that persons who can go home in the evening with pride in the day's accomplishments are the true strength of America. Democrats believe that economic strength comes from unionized manufacturing jobs where everyone makes moderate wages regardless of individual initiative and those that don't work hard are "carried" by the others. Democrats believe that those who have worked hard to achieve financial success should be taxed to support those who have not.

Republicans believe that the proper role of government is to provide only those critical functions that cannot or should not be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least. Democrats believe that government should provide a wide variety of programs designed to foster overall wealth sharing. By default, the Democrat's programs foster widespread economic mediocrity and then maintain that mediocrity with federal "we are here to help" programs. The Democratic way leads to a mutual interdependency, an entitlement society. By design, the population becomes less self sufficient and the Democrats stand ready to fill the void they created. Republicans believe in a "ownership" society where citizens are self empowered and not dependent on government handouts.

Republicans believe that individuals should not be excessively taxed and that they should be able to keep more of the money they earn. Democrats need to tax anything and everything they can so they can fuel the economic dependency they foster.

Republicans believe that the most responsive government is government closest to the people - local government solving local problems in concert local citizens. Democrats believe the best way to govern is through a massive Federal Government, supporting tax funded program after program.

Republicans believe in assisting anyone who is working to better themselves and others. Take the time to learn more about the concept of "Ownership Society" and the difference will become self evident.

Democrats have worked hard to convince people that there is a class based society in America; and that they - the Democrats - are the way to empower the poor downtrodden second class. They depend on being able to convince people they are second class so the Democrats can have a constituency. The Democrats actually work hard at convincing people that regular people are somehow different from those "rich Republicans." We are Republicans and we are not rich upper class snobs. We simply believe that earning your life's rewards is more humanly satisfying and morally right than perpetuating the no involvement handouts supported by wealth redistribution taxes.
